Residents of Yorkton are looking at a 3.93 per cent tax increase, down from an original 8 per cent increase.
The city of Yorkton released its 2023 operating and 2023/24 capital budgets for public feedback.
Finance Director Ashley Stradeski says a large part of the increase is due to inflation including utilities and fuel although anything the city has to buy has gone up including aggregates like asphalt and gravel, “across the board everything was up.”
He says that increase is broken down into two parts, a one-percent increase in capital and 2.93 per cent increase in operating.
There is the possibility Yorkton’s city budget could be approved as early as February 13th.
The budgets are available on the city’s website, www.yorkton.ca/budget.
