Despite being without seven regular players due to injury and in action for a second straight night, the Saskatoon Blades held a 2-0 lead mid-way through the second period against the league-best and fully healthy Winnipeg ICE. Unfortunately for the Bridge City Bunch, the reality of the situation caught up with them as the home-standing ICE scored three times before the end of the second period and notched the eventual game winner early in the third, on the way to a 5-3 triumph Wednesday night.
Consensus Top-5 N-H-L Draft prospect Zach Benson scored twice and added an assist for the 36-6-1 ICE, as they won their third straight game and ended the Blue and Gold’s streak of success at two games. Lukas Hansen (pictured), Egor Sidorov and Jake Chiasson tallied for the 30-12-4 Blades while Ethan Chadwick was strong in goal, making 43 saves. Saskatoon returns home for three games, starting with a re-match against Winnipeg on Saturday at 7 o’clock.
