Students Against Drinking and Driving has received new annual funding from SGI to increase awareness and expand their organization.
Former SADD Saskatchewan President Meaghann White says the $85 thousand will go towards hiring a school and community outreach coordinator that will travel across the province and educate youth about drinking and driving. It will also go towards funding local SADD initiatives, as well as restoring the chapters that were lost during the covid-19 pandemic.
Minister Responsible for SGI Don Morgan says the awareness factor is more important this year than it has ever been, because more people are travelling and driving now compared with the last three years. A news release from SGI stated that although there have been improvements over the last 10 years, impaired driving is still the number one cause of collision fatalities in Saskatchewan.
