A 58 year old man has been sentenced to 7-and-a-half years in jail after a major drug bust in Saskatoon on March 28th. James William Mallett and 45 year old Jenna Marie Beamish were charged with numerous drug and possession of the proceeds of crime offences.
The investigation began in December of last year. Then in March, a vehicle leaving a home in Meacham was stopped by police and two people were arrested. Police say 18 individual packages of meth were seized and 2 large packages – one weighing 13-hundred grams and the other weighing 985 grams. Sergeant Jason Kerr of the Federal Serious and Organized Crime Section says they seized 27-hundred grams of meth with a street value of $135-thousand.
RCMP say the two were driving a stolen vehicle that had a new VIN number. There was a search warrant at a home in Meacham and at a business in the 600 block of Avenue N South in Saskatoon where between the 2 locations over $10-thousand cash, guns, ammunition, other weapons, stolen vehicles, false sales sheets and vehicle break-in tools were seized. At Saskatoon Provincial Court today (Mon), a judge sentenced James Mallett to 90 months in jail, which is equal to 7-and-a-half years.
