The Saskatchewan Huskies women’s and men’s wrestling teams are taking part in the Canada West Championships, starting today and running through tomorrow in Edmonton.

The Canadian Under-18 Girls and Boys Curling Championships continue today and run through tomorrow in Timmins, Ontario. There are 21 teams taking part in both the Girls and Boys Divisions. Both fields were split into three pools of seven teams each for preliminary round-robin play, followed by playoffs. Among the 21 Girls’ teams are Saskatchewan foursomes skipped by Cara Kesslering of Saskatoon-Sutherland and Savanna Taylor of Saskatoon-Nutana. Both teams were in Pool C with Taylor finishing with 3 wins, 3 losses…good for 5th place while Kesslering had 1 win, 5 losses…good for 7th place. Both are in the ranking pool and are off today.
On the boys side, Saskatchewan quartets are skipped by Dylan Derksen of Martensville and Rogan Snow of Saskatoon-Sutherland. Both teams were in Pool C with Snow finishing with 3 wins, 3 losses…good for 4th place while Derksen had 1 win, 5 losses…tied for 6th place. Snow qualified for the playoff round, but has dropped to the consolation side. Derksen is in the ranking pool and plays Quebec Number 2 at 3:30 p.m.
