SLGA liquor licenses up for auction in Saskatchewan are a hot commodity. The second round of auctions closed yesterday.

Thursday a Regina permit had the highest bid at $1,561,000 followed by an Estevan permit at $1,407,500. A Saskatoon permit sold for $1,300,600. A permit in Assiniboia sold for $550,200, and a permit in Moosomin went for $630,000.

The bids were to close around 2pm, but bidding doesn’t close until there has been a ten-minute dormant period between bids, and as of 5:40 p.m. the Moose Jaw bid was at $1,165,200. Moose Jaw’s SLGA liquor store is located in its historic train station. The bids are for the permits only, not for the current buildings.

There are a total of 35 permits being auctioned off and the next round of permits go today.

On Wednesday the highest bid was for a Regina permit at $1.45 million, followed by a Prince Albert permit at $1.4 and one in Saskatoon sold for $1.25 million.
