A woman had to be transported up an embankment after hurting her ankle on Sunday morning out walking along the river.

The Saskatoon Fire Department got the call from Medavie Health Services West at 10:15 a.m. when a woman suffered a severe ankle injury at the Sutherland Dog Park off of Beef Research Road.

Fire crews used bolt cutters to gain access into the fenced/gated off area and found the woman on a lower trail along the river.  A rescue crew was called in to assist in getting the patient from the area.

The Rescue Unit put a haul system in place to go down the embankment. Both fire crews from the fire engine and the fire rescue unit worked together to package and carry the patient up the embankment.

In a news release the Saskatoon Fire Department says, “Icy conditions were a challenge but the fire crew and patient made it to the top of the embankment safely.”  The patient was transferred to the care of paramedics.
