Researchers at the University of Saskatchewan say SARS-CoV-2 viral RNA load in Saskatoon’s wastewater has increased by 9.7 per cent in the latest reporting period.

In Prince Albert viral RNA in wastewater is up by 95.8 per cent and in North Battleford the amount of COVID-19 in wastewater has increased 21.7 per cent.

The findings are based on three individual daily measurements that are compared to the weekly average of the previous weeks.

In Prince Albert and Saskatoon the amount of viral RNA in wastewater is considered medium. In North Battleford it is considered high.

The SARS-CoV-2 viral RNA detected is all a subvariant of Omicron with the majority being BA-5 and BA-2 in all three communities.
