A 71 year old Nipawin resident has been charged with possession of more than 30 grams of cannabis in a public place and possession of cannabis for distribution after a traffic stop on Nipawin Road East on Sunday the 19th. Nipawin RCMP report that the officer noticed a strong cannabis smell when checking for the driver’s license and registration and was told there was 2.3 kilograms in the vehicle. It was determined the driver wasn’t licensed to have that much and was allegedly distributing it illegally. Although cannabis is legal in Canada, the Saskatchewan RCMP remind everyone that there are provincial and federal regulations that still must be followed.
