The Association of Crime Stoppers Programs Saskatchewan has had success with it’s Missing Person Project.
Constable Ryan Ehalt says the project which involved broadcasting letters-to-the-missing raised awareness about the Crime Stoppers program and there have been over 130 tips as a result of the project and included in that number are tips about unsolved homicides.
The letters shared on social media and aired only on Saskatoon Media Group stations, CJWW/92.9 The Bull and 98 Cool, as well as MBC in the north, was intended to target historical missing persons cases.
He says the majority of the tips have been in regards to things happening in the rural area which he describes as “astonishing” because it the area hardest to get information from. He says it proves how effective radio ads can be.
The third letter “To Those Who Took the Missing” will be released today.
