Battlefords RCMP say a man reported missing who hadn’t been seen since February 17th, is the victim of homicide.

A house was destroyed by fire on February 18th on 27th Street West in Battleford and this past Monday (Feb.27) human remains were located inside the building.

The victim has been identified as 32-year-old Gregory Cope.

Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes is investigating, with the assistance of Saskatchewan RCMP’s Forensic Identification Services and fire investigators with the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency.

Anyone with information is asked to call their local police, RCMP detachment or Crime Stoppers.

Gregory Cope was reported missing to RCMP on February 21st after having not been in contact with his loved ones which was uncommon. He was last seen on 105th Street in Battleford 2 weeks ago.
