On Wednesday over the noon hour, Buffalo Narrows RCMP responded to a report of an assault and robbery at a home in the community, which later, became a larger police response. Police were told there were two individuals from Buffalo Narrows involved, and one of them was still inside.

Officers weren’t able to get anyone to answer the door, so they obtained a warrant. The home was cleared but police could hear movement from the crawl space, and then they found evidence indicating the possibility of firearms. That’s when additional RCMP support from the Dillion and Turnor Lake detachments, the Emergency Response Team and Police Dog Services was requested, and a security perimeter was set up around the house.

A woman came out first and was arrested and taken into custody without incident. Police say the ERT and Police Dog Services were able to get the man out and take him into custody. No one else was found inside and no firearms were located. 26-year-old Jade Chartier is charged with one count of stolen property and 20-year-old Johnny Thompson’s charges include robbery, resisting arrest and assault with a weapon.
