Two Edmonton Police officers were shot and killed near Inglewood in Edmonton on a call earlier this morning.
Media reports indicate that dozens of police officers have been stationed near Edmonton’s neighbourhoods Inglewood and Woodcroft since the incident occurred.
Staff Sergeant Michael Elliot with the Edmonton Police Service tweeted this morning “No words can describe what our members & their families are feeling at this moment. Our entire service & community are mourning & I’m devastated.”
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau expressed his condolences to the officers’ loved ones and colleagues on social media saying that two Edmonton police officers being killed in the line of duty is a reminder that every day, police officers put themselves in harm’s way to keep people safe.
