Big River RCMP had issued a warrant for the arrest of a man facing numerous charges, but now say 27 year old Brandon Whitefish has been located. Back on March 7th around 1 a.m., RCMP responded to an altercation on the Big River First Nation. Police were told a man had approached a home and threatened those inside with a knife and a firearm, and then fled in a vehicle that police later realized had been reported stolen 12 days earlier. The vehicle was located and officers attempted a traffic stop, but the SUV sped off.
Police say it took off toward the Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation/Spiritwood area, so officers advised the nearby detachments to be on the lookout. The charges include pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, uttering threats and being unlawfully in a dwelling. He will appear in Prince Albert Provincial Court on Monday.
