The Executive Director of Living Sky Wildlife Rehabilitation in Saskatoon hopes a docuseries which follows its staff and volunteers as injured wildlife are brought under their care, will show the happy endings as well as the tragic stories.

Jan Shadick would like the show to highlight the challenges for wildlife living in an urban area, including the many injuries and deaths from birds hitting windows and cat-caught animals, but also the rewards of being able to release animals which have survived and are released back into the wild.

She says the filming came at a busy time last summer because they were dealing with Avian Influenza, which meant having to quarantine the animals in various sections and wearing new PPE for each section you go in. That meant the production crew had to do the same.

You can get a glimpse at what happens behind the scenes of a wildlife rehabilitation centre this spring on City TV, with the six-part docuseries Staying Wild. It premiers Monday.
