The trial by judge alone began today (Mon) for the mother of an 18-month-old Regina boy who died in June of 2020.

Regina Police and other emergency responders were dispatched to an apartment in the 3200 block of Arens Road around 10:15 in the morning on June 10th of 2020. The toddler was transported to hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

His mother, Chelsea Rae Whitby was charged that August with manslaughter, but the charge has since been upgraded to second degree murder. The 27 year old appeared in Regina Court of King’s Bench today and the trial is scheduled through to April 14th.
