It’s potholes and puddles season in Saskatoon, compounded by thawing temperatures during the day and freezing again at night.

The City of Saskatoon says crews are out uncovering catch basins and thawing frozen locations that aren’t draining on the street. The city warns drivers encountering puddles on the street, disguised as water-filled potholes that can cause damage to vehicles, plus be a tripping hazard for pedestrians. Drivers are also asked to avoid aggressive splashing through puddles that can soak pedestrians on sidewalks or at bus stops. The city is asking residents and businesses to help with the spring melt by digging out covered catch basins and making a path for snowmelt to drain where it is safe to do so.
