A 31-year old Saskatoon man is facing a charge of arson with disregard for human life following a multi-unit residential structure fire on Sunday morning.

Fire crews responded to the blaze in the 1600 block of 1st Avenue North around 8:40am. All of the people evacuated the building with no injuries. The 31-year-old man, who was a resident in the building, was arrested by police following the Saskatoon Fire Department’s investigation.

Meantime, a Sunday evening fire in the 300 block of Whitney Avenue South is also believed to have been deliberately set. The home owner had a video of the suspect and police found him early Monday morning while attending a report of a disturbance in the 500 block of Avenue T North. Police determined a 24-year-old Saskatoon man was the person in the video. He has been charged with break and enter to commit arson and recklessly causing damage by fire to property.
