STARS radiothon has raised $441,310 dollars after broadcasting for 24 hours on 39 radio stations in the province.

Jeri-Lynn Johnston, Executive Director of Fundraising, STARS Foundation says they are overwhelmed by the generosity of individuals, groups and businesses that made the third annual radiothon for STARS successful.

“The money raised by this radiothon will make a big difference in ensuring STARS continues to provide critical care anywhere and will be available 24/7 to help those in need whether it is with the helicopter, or other mode of transport, or through a virtual setting of a physician providing care guidance through video or phone link, affecting outcomes.”

Johnston thanked BHP and Saskatchewan Blue Cross for their participation as presenting sponsors. And she thanked their Very Important Patients (VIP).

“We have also heard many heartwarming stories of people coming forward telling us how they or their loved ones have been given a second chance at life, thanks to STARS. None of it would be possible without the support of everyone in the province.”

STARS flew over 1,000 missions from their Saskatoon and Regina bases during the 2021-22 fiscal year. The provincial government provides approximately 50 per cent of the funds needed to operate STARS in Saskatchewan, and the STARS Foundation must raise the remaining $10 million annually through fundraisers like Critical Care on the Air.
