The Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations is feeling left out of the Premiers’ Meeting in Mississauga. Chief Bobby Cameron says, “The Premiers will discuss topics that directly impact First Nations people in Canada.’ He says “They do not speak for us.” Cameron says the premiers must cease and desist discussions on issues that impact First Nations without First Nations leadership at the table. One of the specific objections Cameron raises is investment and transfer payments. He says the premiers will use First Nation populations to secure funding from the Federal Government. He says the FSIN demands that the Federal Government refrain from allowing the Provincial Government to secure funding on behalf of First Nations.
