On Friday night just after 8:30 p.m., an off-duty officer was driving near Melrose Avenue and Taylor Street East when an unknown vehicle pulled up and the driver pointed a handgun out the window at the officer before speeding off.

An officer in the Traffic Unit saw a 2018 black Dodge Charger, the suspect vehicle, speeding, and it was pulled over at Ruth Street West and Herman Avenue, about a kilometre-and-a-half southwest of where the incident occurred.

A pellet gun was located and seized from the vehicle. A six-year-old boy located in the back seat of the vehicle was unharmed and taken into care of family.

A 33-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman are both facing firearms related charges.
