A Fire Investigator says the cause of a house fire in the 100 block of Avenue N South last night (Mon) was careless disposal of smoking material and the damage estimate is $5,000.

At 10:16 Monday night, the Saskatoon Fire Department was alerted of a possible fire inside a home and the first arriving crews were told there was a fire in one of the rooms. One person was found inside and helped out. The person was assessed by paramedics and released. The fire was quickly brought under control and the scene was turned over to the Fire Investigator at 10:47 p.m.
