On the morning of Giving Tuesday, the Saskatoon Wildlife Federation’s Hunt-4-Hunger program delivered two freezer’s full of ground venison to the Saskatoon Food Bank and Learning Centre.
The Hunt-4-Hunger program is a chance for hunters to donate their extra meat. And with a special agreement from the Ministry of Environment, Saskatoon Wildlife Federation accepts the meat during the hunting season then volunteers process the meat.
Deboarah Hamp, Director of Operations at the Food Bank, says they definitely don’t take any aspect of the gift for granted – from the skill to be able to hunt, taking the time to do it, as well as the labour intensive processing – which all combines to provide an excellent source of protein for their clients.
