The President of the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency says the province is proud to be part of the Canadian contingent being sent to support Australia in what has been a devastating fire fighting season.
Marlo Pritchard says 21 fire management staff will head to New South Wales for a deployment of 38 days. Its the first time Canadian firefighters are being deployed to Australia under the Exhcnage of Wildland Fire Management Resources agreement. Canada has called on Australia four times since 2015.
Canadian fire management staff will be filling operational, planning and aviation roles.
