Around four o’clock yesterday afternoon (tues), Kamsack RCMP were told a woman was being held against her will in her residence on the Cote First Nation. When they arrived, the woman let officers in through the front door and they saw a man leaving the residence through an open window. He was known to police and was wanted on outstanding charges. Police say they advised the man he was under arrest and commands were given for him to stop. He didn’t. The man received a head injury when one of the officers was able to stop him, but not before both went down on the icy ground. The suspect was taken to hospital by EMS for treatment. He is in stable condition in custody. The 34 year old faces a charge of Resisting Arrest. Estevan Police were brought in to conduct a review of the incident. The Ministry of Justice has been asked to appoint an independent observer.
