Evacuation orders are being lifted in Saskatchewan after a fire that forced residents in La Loche and nearby First Nations out of the community on Friday. The fire has been brought under control. La Loche residents were advised buses were leaving Regina yesterday evening and Clear River Dene Nation has advised its residents they can start returning home today.

The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency says Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement this morning for Buffalo Narrows and Peter Pond Lake and La Loche and Clearwater River Provincial. Park with smoke causing poor air quality and reduced visibility in several areas. As of this morning there are 15 wildfires burning and four are not contained.

Alberta Premier Danielle Smith is slated to speak with the Prime Minister today and the phone call will focus on wildfires. Alberta’s premier declared a provincewide state of emergency over the weekend, as emergency crews battle more than 100 wildfires — with over thirty of them classified as out of control.
