A public inquest has been scheduled for this week into the death of Elaine Behm.
It will be held today thru Friday at the Coronet Hotel in Prince Albert.
The 50-year-old woman was found unresponsive in her cell at the Pine Grove Correctional Centre (PGCC) in Prince Albert on October 1, 2020.
Live saving attempts were made by staff and EMS but it was unsuccessful, and she was pronounced deceased.
The Chief Coroner shall hold an inquest into the death of a person who dies while an inmate at a jail or a correctional facility, unless the coroner is satisfied that the person’s death was due entirely to natural causes and was not preventable.
The coroner’s jury may make recommendations to prevent similar deaths. Coroner Robert Kennedy will preside at the inquest.
