Last Thursday officers from the Saskatchewan RCMP Roving Traffic Unit (RTU) stopped a vehicle for speeding on Highway 1, near Swift Current. The girl driving the car was under 16 years old, was alone and the vehicle had an Ontario license plate. Police determined the girl had been reported as missing from Ontario and was a suspected victim of human trafficking.

The Ministry of Social Services was called in and a worker went with the girl to hospital to receive medical care. Transportation is being arranged to return the girl to her home. No charges are expected to be laid and because of police jurisdiction the Hamilton, Ontario Police Service has taken carriage of the ongoing investigation.
