You can expect your phone to sound off a couple times this week. This is Emergency Preparedness Week and as part of that the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency is conducting a test of the SaskAlert system around 1:55 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon. SaskAlert is the province-wide system used to alert the public of potential threats to their safety. It is also used to broadcast Amber Alerts.
The City of Saskatoon system is called NotifyNow and a test is also planned for the NotifyNow system. That test is Tuesday morning starting at 10 a.m. and it is also part of Emergency Preparedness Week. Depending on what you chose when signing up you could get a voice call to a land line or a cell phone, an email or a text message.
