The Western Hockey League held their annual two-round U-S Priority Draft Wednesday.
The first pick was forward Brody Gillespie of Vancouver, Washington, by Spokane. The Saskatoon Blades selected forward Daniel Peate of San Juan Capistrano, California, 19th overall and defenceman Luke Host of Columbine, Colorado, 41st overall. The Prince Albert Raiders chose forward Liam Hamre of Victoria, Minnesota, fifth overall and forward Caden Dionne of Denver 27th overall. The Prospects Draft goes Thursday. The Bridge City Bunch have Seattle’s first round pick at 21st overall plus their second round and three fourth round selections. Thursday’s Prospects Draft starts at 10 a.m. with the Prince Albert Raiders holding the first, second and seventh overall choices.
