A case of misidentification and misrepresentation led to a significant police response Friday afternoon at a Saskatoon school.
At about 2:15 p.m. Friday afternoon, Saskatoon Police Service officers attended to the 2500 block of 18th Street West for a report of a male pointing a firearm in the direction of a school in the area before entering a nearby residence. The school was quickly put into a perimeter lockdown as several police units converged on the area. Upon officers contacting the occupants of the residence, it was determined that a male youth had been playing with a toy gun outside and that there was no threat to public safety. The perimeter lockdown has been lifted.
