Saskatchewan R-C-M-P revealed Friday that officers from the Pierceland detachment had been in contact with Dominic Kahpoonapit in the days prior to him being reported as missing, then found dead near a residence on the Big Island Lake Cree Territory.
Saskatchewan R-C-M-P Major Crimes continues to investigate the circumstances of Kahpoonapit’s death with the cause of death not yet confirmed. During his interaction with Pierceland R-C-M-P, the 20-year-old from Big Island Lake Cree Territory was not under arrest or charged, nor was he in police custody.
