Punnichy and Southey RCMP are warning of dangerous illicit drugs circulating in the area after responding to numerous overdoses in the past few weeks, including two fatalities. Preliminary investigation suggests fentanyl may have been involved, but police await the toxicology results from the Saskatchewan Coroners Service.
The investigations are ongoing.
The advice from RCMP is if you choose to use, be cautious. Use small amounts and don’t use alone.
Staff Sgt. Curtis Pelzer from the Punnichy RCMP wants residents in the area to consider keeping naloxone on hand, because it can temporarily reverse the effects of overdoses from opioids.
The Saskatchewan RCMP says getting dangerous, illicit drugs off the street continues to be a top priority.
