The Cumberland House Cree Nation is planning to build state of the art band office.
The Chief says it will include a daycare as it perished along with the building in the recent fire that destroyed the community’s band office.
Rene Chaboyer says they are awaiting the seed money from the insurance settlement and additional federal funding.
Chaboyer says community support has been outstanding as they plan for the future and recover from the devastating fire.
The Prince Albert Grand Council is helping with mental health services and Chaboyer says community members are also leaning on each other for support.
Records and data were also lost in the blaze.
Although the investigation continues, Chaboyer indicates the RCMP have told him the fire was set deliberately.
