Everyone is welcome to come to Civic Square which is at the south side of Saskatoon’s City Hall for the official raising of the Reconciliation Flag. The event is from 10 a.m. to noon Monday.
The City of Saskatoon says the flag raising sets the stage for the season of commemoration or reflection, with June being National Indigenous History Month and National Indigenous Peoples Day is June 21st. The event also includes remarks from dignitaries, Indigenous performances and a call to action to the community to engage in Reconciliation. The City’s new Reconciliation Visual Identity and new Community Tipi will also be unveiled.
The annual raising of the Reconciliation Flag is co-hosted by the City of Saskatoon and Reconciliation Saskatoon. Reconciliation Saskatoon is a community of over 115 non-profits, businesses, and other organizations who have come together towards one mission: to initiate a citywide conversation about Reconciliation and provide opportunities for everyone to engage in the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action.
