There is an air quality statement in effect for two thirds of Saskatchewan. Essentially draw a line from the Alberta border through Wilkie, across to Martensville-Warman, Vonda, Lake Lenore over to the Manitoba border, and then dipping south for a short distance to include Saskatoon and everything north can expect wildfire smoke to cause poor air quality and reduced visibility at times. The Lloydminster area is also under a heat warning today.

There are 29 wildfires burning right now in Saskatchewan and five of those are out of control There have been 211 fires to date in the province this year and 144 is the five-year average. The fires of note are the Vermette fire southwest of Dillon which is now 88,446 hectares, the Shaw fire between Buffalo Narrows and Isle-a-la-Crosse spanning 186,420 hectares and the Wistigo fire at 63,469 hectares southeast of Pinehouse Lake.
