From the Alberta border through Leader, Lucky Lake, over to Esterhazy and virtually everything north of that including Saskatoon and Prince Albert are under a special air quality statement with wildfire smoke reducing visibility and causing poor air quality. There is also a heat warning in effect for Lloydminster this morning.
There are 30 wildfires burning in Saskatchewan this morning and six of them remain out of control. The fires of note continue to be the Vermette fire southwest of Dillon, the Shaw fire between Buffalo Narrows and Isle-a-la-Crosse and the Wistigo fire southeast of Pinehouse Lake.
There have been 212 fires to date this year while the five-year average is 145.
