The 24-year-old man arrested Wednesday in connection to the homicide investigation where a 35-year-old man was found injured in the 200 block of Avenue S South has been charged with second degree murder. Damien Sanderson was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Saskatoon Police say three homes were searched, in the 200 blocks of Avenue S and Avenue W South and the 300 block of Avenue U South. Officers report seizing four firearms, a replica firearm, two bulletproof vests and ammunition. Fifteen people were taken into custody from Avenue W South, but no charges have been laid connected to the homicide.

As police reported on Wednesday, the Guns & Gangs Unit noticed two people leaving a nearby home in a truck, which fled from police. Two people, a man and a woman were arrested near Beardy’s & Okemasis’ Cree Nation. It has since been determined the two weren’t involved in the homicide, but the driver, a 39-year-old man is charged with evading police, dangerous driving, unlawful confinement, possession of stolen property and possession of meth and fentanyl. The 20-year-old woman was released without charges.

After police responded to the 200 block of Avenue S South yesterday (Wed) , it was decided to cancel classes at Pleasant Hill School for the day. There was also a Dangerous Persons Alert in an around the Cree Nation, which ended when the man and woman were taken into custody.
