Five companies pitched their business concept live on stage last night for a guaranteed investment pot of $150,000.
Innovation Saskatchewan also made a special funding announcement last night of $100,000 in funding for Startup TNT. Saskatchewan’s Lead for Startup TNT, Jessie Wiebe explains that they are a not-for-profit organization which brings together investors to help early-stage companies.
He says this year’s final five run the full gamut, “Business to business and direct to consumer sales as well. You’ve got Bettercart Analytics, Creditgurus helping people reform their credit. Omnee – helping people manage and maintain their home. Runnr – helping industrial Ag companies get deliveries to their customers and Solusguard helping remote workers and people in high risk situations deal with safety.”
As well, one of their top five companies has made it into one of the most prestigious tech accelerators in the world. This year, two new investment prizes were unveiled at the Startup TNT competition and both were awarded to Saskatoon female entrepreneurs. The UP Angel Syndicate granted a $25,000 investment to Melanie Morrison’s BetterCart Analytics. Meanwhile, the Firehood Angel Suite, a $50,000 prize for women-led startups, was awarded to Serese Selanders of SolusGuard
