Manitoba RCMP say the death toll from last week’s accident between a bus carrying seniors, and a semi, has risen.

RCMP say a woman who has been in hospital since the collision, succumbed to her injuries.

Sixteen people have now died and nine are injured.

Autopsies had commenced on Monday for those killed in the crash which RCMP had said would not only help to identify the victims, but will provide helpful information to the investigators, and provide closure to the families.

A bus taking seniors to a casino was attempting to cross the east and westbound lanes of the Trans-Canada Highway when it collided with a semi-trailer near Carberry, Manitoba.

The seniors were from the Dauphin area.
