Saskatoon Police say a woman who was intoxicated, opened the door of a police canine vehicle and consequently was bit by the Police Service Dog inside.

Around 1:20 a.m. police responded to a report of a domestic disturbance in the area of 19th Street West and Avenue W South.

Officers say they saw a woman causing a disturbance in the street and she immediately approached the police vehicle and opened the rear door.

The woman was assessed by paramedics for non-life-threatening injuries and then taken to Detention.

A 20-year-old Saskatoon woman has been charged with public intoxication.
