A Sunday evening attempt to conceal a gun and a machete has led to the arrest of two men by the Saskatoon Police Service.

At about 7 p.m. on July 2, patrol officers responded to a report of two men believed to be armed at 18th Street West and Avenue W South.

Police caught up with the pair as they attempted to enter an apartment in the 800 block of Appleby Drive.

The officers say they spotted the barrel of a firearm at the bottom of one of the suspect’s shorts. The sawed-off shotgun and machete were seized by officers and the two men, plus a third male, were arrested without incident. The third man was later released without charges.

Both arrested men are charged with carrying a dangerous weapon and carrying a concealed weapon. A 22-year-old man is also charged with breach of probation while the 23-year-old man faces three counts of possession of a weapon while prohibited, breach of conditions and breach of probation.
