Saskatchewan RCMP say while there were three fatal accidents on the July long weekend in the province, from January 1st to July 2nd of this year their officers have responded to 26 fatal collisions which is two less than the same period in 2022.

Twenty-seven people have died as a result of collisions in 2023, six less than over the same period last year. There were three more deaths on the weekend.

Last Friday afternoon, there was a rollover south of Canoe Narrows and Beauval RCMP say a 27-year-old man from Beauval was declared deceased at the scene. He was the only person in the vehicle which is also the case when a vehicle rolled Friday night on Fishing Lake First Nation resulting in the death of 52-year-old man from the First Nation.

And a 36-year-old man from Sherwood Park, Alberta, was pronounced deceased at the scene while woman was transported by STARS to hospital with serious injuries after an accident around 5:15 a.m. on July 2nd on the Trans-Canada Highway near Chaplin.
