Joseph Remai has handed over $5-million for Saskatchewan Polytechnic’s School of Construction , making it the largest donation the institution has ever received. Because of this significant contribution, the construction school has been renamed the Joseph A. Remai School of Construction.
Joe Remai has hired many graduates of the program in his over 60 years of business, having built thousands of apartments, condos, and commercial and hotel properties. He considers the construction industry more challenging than ever because of new technologies, increasingly complex projects and higher environmental and safety standards, so he says, “learning on the job is no longer a reality”.
Construction student, Mark Bahnmann, says it feels good to have the industry singled out for this donation, when there are so many options out there for giving.
President and CEO of Sask Polytech, Dr. Larry Rosia says this donation is a game changer for the institution which will have a positive effect for decades to come, impacting hundreds of thousands of students and their families and communities.
