With road work in its high season, the Saskatchewan RCMP reminds drivers that speeding past emergency workers or road workers is dangerous and it’s illegal.
In June, RCMP ticketed 192 drivers for failing to slow down when passing an emergency, highway maintenance, tow or construction vehicle with lights flashing.
In one instance, a vehicle was clocked at 104 km/h while in a construction zone on Highway 2 outside of Anglin Lake. Police say multiple construction workers and vehicles with their lights flashing were working in the area.
The driver was ticketed for speeding while passing highway equipment with warning lights, receiving a $1,075 fine.
