A news release from the provincial government says the Saskatchewan Health Authority has hired more than 560 new nursing graduates from the province and across Canada since last December.
It’s part of the Health Human Resources Action Plan because of the shortage of healthcare workers.
Almost 170 positions are now filled of the 250 new and enhanced permanent full-time positions targeted to stabilize staffing in rural and remote areas.
As well, the next academic year includes about 550 new training seats in health care careers in 18 high demand occupations, building upon the addition of 150 nursing seats in 2022.
