The Canadian contingent at a world Scout gathering in South Korea began an early withdrawal from the Jamboree Site Monday morning due to the expected impact of Typhoon Khanun.
An official statement from Scouts Canada says, “This is a planned early departure from the jamboree site to ensure the ongoing safety of our youth and volunteers, as the Korean Government enacts a national action plan in anticipation of the extreme weather.”
But all this doesn’t mean an end to their trip because the Jamboree is working with the Seoul municipality to offer programme opportunities for the next few days.
Nearly 400 Canadians are among 36-thousand scouts and volunteers attending an international scouting jamboree. Scouts Canada says the Canadian contingent includes 235 youth and 143 volunteers.
