The luck of the last Friday the 13th of the 20-teens fell on the Saskatoon Blades Friday.
And, it wasn’t good luck!
The Bridge City Bunch held an edge in shots on goal, won more faceoffs, had more power play chances and played about 50 of the first 55 minutes of the game the way they wanted to…yet fell 5-2 to the visiting Kamloops Blazers.
The Blazers never trailed as they ran their streak of games in which they gained points in the standings to eight (5-0-3). They rode the goaltending of Saskatoon product Rayce Ramsay and were opportunistic with their scoring as they improved their season record to a B.C. Division-leading 20-9-3. Saskatoon product Connor Zary returned from being cut by Team Canada at their World Junior Championship selection camp on Thursday and scored the go-ahead goal late in the second period and added an assist. Alex Morozoff, also a Saskatoon native, scored in his debut game with the Bridge City Bunch while Zach Huber finished the scoring late in the contest for the Blue and Gold…now winless in four games (0-3-1) and falling below .500 at 14-15-3. The Blades out-shot Kamloops 30-27. Saskatoon hosts Prince Albert Sunday at 4 o’clock in the final game before the Christmas break for both teams.
