Around 10:20 this morning (Wed), Regina Police were alerted that there was a suspicious item on the ground under a bench at a play structure outside of St. Michael School on Hamilton Street. Patrol officers responded and confirmed there was an item of concern, so a perimeter was established, and the Explosives Disposal Team was called in.
Just after 2 this afternoon, investigators concluded their work in assessing the item and safely disposing of it. It was assembled to look like an explosive device; however, investigation revealed it was not. It appears to be an act of public mischief.
No suspects have been identified. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Regina police or leave an anonymous tip through Regina Crime Stoppers.
