The increased police presence at Emma Lake on Monday has become a homicide investigation.
Prince Albert RCMP say a man was found unresponsive Monday morning on MacIntosh Point at Emma Lake. The call came in at 10:20 a.m. and officers located 27-year-old Phillip Okemow of the Sturgeon Lake First Nation in what is described as “an outdoor location”.
Prince Albert R-C-M-P Forensic Identification Services processed the scene, and the Saskatchewan Corners Service has conducted an autopsy. Anyone with information regarding the circumstances of Phillip Okemow’s death or someone who had contact with him on the evening of August 20th or the early morning of hours of August 21st is asked to contact their local police service immediately or, anonymously, by contacting Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers.
In the meantime, Emma Lake residents may notice an increased police presence as the investigation continues.
